Matthew has been a senior clinical manager within non-government services since 2008, managing across disability, children, and families, and out-of-home care. Matthew currently works as the Director of Clinical Training at the Centre for Positive Behaviour Support. He has over 25 years of experience using Multi-Element Behaviour Support to support quality of life improvements for people with disability and complex needs.
Behaviour Support specialist in trauma informed practice
He is a registered Psychologist, board approved supervisor in Psychology and a ‘suitable’ behaviour support practitioner self-assessing at the advanced and specialist levels in trauma informed practice. Matthew has managed state-wide projects in positive behaviour support training the entire Tasmanian Government disability service system. He is also a member of the National Advisory Group ‘Seasons for Life’ - a youth suicide initiative through the MacKillop Institute.
Matthew has published work in journals and textbooks on Multi-Element Behaviour Support (MEBS), non-aversive approaches to crisis management and trauma informed practice. Matthew’s values of compassion, social justice and effective practice are evident through his work with people impacted by trauma, people living with disability, their families, staff members and community.
